The incident has however created a disturbing atmosphere at the district headquarters today. The party members were bound to block the roads and other means of transportation in order to put a stop to the supply of brown sugar and other illegal items. The city has built up a crime record of illegal business.

While some supporters were found burning tyres, blocking the NH 18, others were found sitting on the railway tracks creating an atmosphere of tension. The trains, including the superfast Bangiriposi-Bhubaneswar came to a hault at Baripada station. The JMM party supporters were flapping flags and whooping slogans. The passengers at the railway station were left helpless at the situation. Not only the transportation but the protest was so bad that, shops, business establishments and educational institutions had to shut business for the day.
Strict security has been prepared to avert any kind of disturbing situation during the bandh, while many police personnels have been deployed in the town, said sources.
