Bhubaneswar: September 29: On Friday, an elderly couple and their son-in-law were killed in a terrible road accident along the Anandapur- Karanjia road in the Keonjhar district.
The tragedy occurred close to Padampur. They are all members of the same family.
Sahadev Behera of Kalabila village, who lived under the jurisdiction of the Ghasipura Police limits, along with his wife Chandini and son-in-law Abhiram Behera have been identified as the deceased.
According to various sources, the elderly couple, together with their son-in-law, were riding a motorcycle on their way to Chandini’s father’s house when a speeding ATM cash van traveling from the opposite direction collided with the motorcycle at Padmapur under the jurisdiction of the Anandpur police limits.
The driver of the van ran away from the scene of the accident, abandoning the victims who were gravely hurt there.
As soon as the police arrived, they took the victims to the closest hospital, where they were pronounced “brought dead” by the attending physicians.
The surveillance video is being reviewed by the authorities to locate the driver who fled the scene.
