Rayagada, Oct 19: In a road mishap on the State highway at Khaliguda in Rayagada district today, three persons died while five sustained critical injuries.
As per reports, the incident happened when the Bolero jeep carrying newspapers from Rayagada to Gunupur hit a truck from the rear on the highway. One person died on the spot while the injured were rushed to the Rayagada district headquarters hospital. Two other injured persons succumbed to their injuries at the hospital later while undergoing treatment. One person who sustained critical injuries on her shoulder will be shifted to another hospital. The condition of others is stated to stable.
Udayanath Seth, Inspector-in-charge of Chandili police station said that soon after the accident, the truck fled from the spot. A search operation to trace the vehicle has been launched, he further added.
