Cuttack, May 19: Today the Orissa HC has granted Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandopadhyay conditional bail in connection to the Rose Valley chit-fund scam case. The court has asked Sudip to surrender his passport and submit a Rs 25-lakh bank guarantee at the Special CBI court in the capital city. The bail was granted after two sureties of Rs 50,000 each were produced in the High Court. Sudip’s counsel informed media that the court has further asked the TMC MP to cooperate in the investigation process and also be present at the lower court during hearings. During the hearing, Sudip’s counsel had urged the court that his client’s bail petition must be adhered to as he is an elderly person and is really sick. Also, Sudip did not have any direct connection with the Rose Valley. He is neither the director of the company nor is he involved in any business of the company. Prior to the hearing, Sudip had been lodged at the Jharpada jail after the CBI arrested him in connection with the multi-crore Rose Valley chit-fund scam in January this year.
