Rourkela, March 5: Executive Director In-charge Rourkela Steel Plant MK Das Friday exhorted to employees of the steel behemoth to rededicate themselves to the cause of safety and commit to the safety procedures carrying out their jobs with utmost safety, every time and everywhere
Addressing a programme on the occasion of National Safety Week, Das said, “National Safety Day, should be observed as the beginning of a new year of safety and a new opportunity to prove RSP’s capability of producing accident free steel”.
He laid emphasis on simple fundamental rules of safety that is ‘Always Be Careful (ABC)’ and urged the gathering to strengthen the Safety Movement through Surakhya Chakra measures across plant.
An array of programmes was organised at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to mark the 45th National Safety Day today.
Safety badges were pinned to Das and other senior officers of the Steel Plant.
Director in charge (M&HS) AK Singh, ED(P&A) PK Pradhan, ED (Projects) S Das, GM In-charge (Steel) PK Amatya, General Manager (Safety, Environment and Fire Services) SC Patnaik and many other senior Officers of the Plant and employees from across departments were present on the occasion.
Amatya exhorted the employees to devote themselves to the cause of safety and spread the culture of safety both in the work place as well as outside.
Das presented awards to the winners of different competitions held to mark National Safety Day like Safety song, safety quiz for both contractual and regular employees, safety debate, Surakhya Chakra Competition and Best Departmental Safety Officers competition.
A safety song programme was presented by HH Pothal of Oxygen Plant (TOP-I) and his troupe.
Earlier in the morning, Safety Flags were hoisted at ED (Works) building, Town Engineering Office and ED (Projects) building and safety pledges were taken.
A Safety exhibition was also organised in the Shipping Area of Silicon Steel Mill.
