Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: Yesterday the State Election Commission (SEC) asked the Crime Branch to probe into the murder of Salman Rout of Tarabha village in Dhenkanal on Feb 13. The Commission has recommended the Home department in response to the demands by the Opposition BJP and Congress for a Crime Branch probe into the case on the basis of the report of the Dhenkanal collector Rupa Roshan Sahu.
The BJP had yesterday as a protest, staged demonstration in all district sub divisional headquarters thus demanding immediate arrest of Kamakhyanagar BJD MLA and minister Prafulla Mallick for his involvement in the murder. In Balasore, the saffron party leaders and workers burnt the effigy of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and demanded ouster of minister Prafulla Mallick from his post and his immediate arrest.
