Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: Yesterday the editor of Odisha’s No 1 newspaper ‘Sambad’ Soumya Ranjan Patnaik called upon the media to play a leadership role in the larger interest of the society. The chairman of state’s largest media conglomerate Eastern Media Limited (EML) and editor of the daily was speaking on the sidelines of the 32nd anniversary of its daily.
Notably, the now-undisputed No 1 daily was launched on October 4, 1984. The newspaper now is published in eight editions across the state having round about 70 lakh readership. It is the first media house which had come up with morning edition, colour prints and multi-edition for becoming a torchbearer in the print media industry. In its 32-year long journey, the daily has not only been the trendsetter in introducing new printing technology in the industry, but has also chronicled some of the most significant developments in the areas of politics, society and culture in the state. ‘Sambad’ celebrated the completion of its 32 years with several competitions in singing, debate and painting among others.
Kanak News, the regional television channel from the same Eastern Media Limited (EML) stable also completed seven years of its existence yesterday.
