Alur (Karnataka): October 12: Right-handed wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson became the sixth Indian to score a double century in a List-A match on Saturday. Samson played an unbeaten innings of 212 off 129 balls against Goa. The innings consists of 21 fours and 10 sixes. With the help of Samson’s unbeaten innings, Kerala team managed to score 377 runs for three wickets in 50 overs. Sachin Baby (127) also scored a century. Samson has now become the highest individual scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Earlier last year, Karn Kaushal of Uttarakhand had scored 202 runs against Sikkim.
Samson did not even score a century in List-A cricket before this innings. Samson hit the fastest double century for India in the List-A match during this innings. Samson completed 200 runs off just 125 balls. This score made by Samson is the fourth best score of any Indian batsman in List-A cricket. He broke the record of Karn Kaushal (202) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Before them, Rohit Sharma scored 264, Shikhar Dhawan 248 and Virender Sehwag scored 219 runs. (GNS)
