New Delhi, Dec 5: Renowned Scientist M Nair Rajeevan was on Saturday appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences here.
54-year-old Rajeevan is presently Director, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune. His appointment as Earth Sciences Secretary has been approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC).
In a relevant development, the ACC had on Thursday extended additional charge of the post assigned to Prof K Vijay Raghavan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, for a further period of three months beyond November 30, 2015 or till appointment of a regular incumbent.
