Paradeep, Oct 27: In a simultaneous bombing and firing attack by two miscreants, the General Manager of Seaways Shipping and Logistic Ltd, Mahendra Swain died on Wednesday.
As per the information, at around 9 am, while Swain was on his way to the office, the duo first hurled bombs on his Scorpio car numbered OD-02-J-9699 near Madhuban Square. Out of fear, when Swain and his driver tried to escape the spot, the duo fired around three rounds of bullet from behind. After the attack, Swain sustained serious bullet injuries on his neck and his ear.
On receiving the information, staffs of the company rushed to the spot and admitted him at Biju Memorial Hospital. He was later shifted to Cuttack’s Ashwini Hospital as his condition deteriorated. However, the doctors there declared him as dead on arrival.
The police arrived at the spot after receiving the information and sealed the area where the incident took place.
The Scientific team has started the investigation into the matter, informed Subhransu Sekhar Nayak, Paradip police station in-charge.
Business rivalry is suspected to be a reason behind this attack. Police suspects that the attack was done after a master planning and under involvement of many other persons.
It may be noted that since few years, various attack incidents related to the Seaways Company have been witnessed in the Paradip.
