Bhubaneswar, Mar 15: The 14 places where the Panchayat Polls were halted due to death of candidates, will witness re-polling on Apr 19 as decided by the State Election Commission (SEC). Notices for the same have been sent on Mar 17 to the respective Panchayat offices, Block offices, Sub-Collector offices and District Collector offices. The desired candidates for the same will be able to file their nomination papers within Mar 21 to Mar 25. On Mar 27, the nomination papers will be checked and the final list of the aspiring candidates will be published on Mar 28 and Mar 30 is finalized to be the last date of withdrawing names or nomination papers from the polls. Elections will be held from 7 am and will continue till 12 pm on Apr 19 and later the counting will begin from 1 pm. Names of winners will be declared on Apr 20. Also, the SEC had come out with the dates for re-polling at 4 blocks for the post of the Samiti member. Further election for Block Chairman will be held on May 1 and for Block Deputy Chairman will be held on May 12. Notably, as the Orissa HC had ordered a saty order, polls were striked off at Parjang block in Dhenkanal, Kolabira block in Jharsuguda, Bhawanipatna block in Kalahandi and Rengali panchayat in Sambalpur.
