Second visit of Congress, AICC to Kandhamal today

Bhubaneswar, July 23: It seems like Kandhamal has become a visiting place for political parties and officials. Though 15 days had already passed, no significant outcome has been noticed. While Yesterday, Special Investigation Team (SIT) had submitted the evidence regarding the Kandhamal firing incident, in its second visit, All India Congress Committee (AICC) consisting of five members would visit Gumuduma village in Kandhamal district today to ascertain the circumstances under which five innocent tribal had been killed.The team would visit Baliguda before visiting Gumudumaha to discuss with the deceased’s family members and relatives.

The team will consists of former Union Minister, V Kishore Chandra Deo, Jairam Ramesh, K H Muniyappa, Vincent Pala and Arun Oraon who would be assisted by Prasad Harichandan , Chief of  Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), AICC Secretary and Odisha in charge Subhankar Sarkar and other leaders of the party.

A delegation of Congress MLAs, led by Leader of opposition in Odisha Assembly, Narasingh Mishra had visited seven days back to have a talk with the family members of the victims. He pointed out about the null development in the area and also said that the issues regarding the development would be raised in the Odisha Assembly.

On Tuesday, Congress members led by Harichandan, AICC Secretary Bhakta Charan Das and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi had also gheraoed the Baliguda Police station by staging demonstration. They had sought for High court intervention in this matter and also a High Court monitored judicial probe by a sitting judge into this cross firing incident.
