MUMBAI, OCT 13: The benchmark BSE Sensex fell for the second straight session and ended nearly 58 points down at 26.846.53 on continued slide in IT stocks and weakness in global shares.
Software stocks remained under pressure for the second straight day after Infosys yesterday slashed dollar revenue guidance.
The BSE Sensex resumed lower at 26,874.29 and fell further to 26,719.10 on heavy selling before ending at 26,846.53, showing a loss of 57.58 points.
The 50-share NSE Nifty too lost 11.90 points to end at 8,131.70.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, IT fell by 1.03 per cent, followed by teck 0.87 per cent, oil&gas 0.56 per cent, capital goods 0.21 per cent and bankex 0.19 per cent, while realty rose by 1.31 per cent and inched up power 0.29 per cent.
The market breadth turned positive as 1,538 stocks ended in green, 1,229 closed in red while 106 ruled steady.
The total turnover rose to Rs 2,779.08 crore from Rs 2,390.13 crore yesterday.
