Sensex surges 376 points to end at 26,154

MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 30, 2015: Driven by upbeat global markets and RBI’s more than expected rate cut yesterday, the benchmark BSE Sensex today zoomed over 376 points and ended at 26,154.83 points on continued buying in blue-chips.
The 30-share index barometer stayed in the green throughout and ended at 26,154.83, up 376.17 points, its biggest single-day percentage gain since September 9.
The broader NSE Nifty rallied 105.60 points to close the day at 7,948.90.
Shares of Bharti Airtel, BHEL, GAIL, Coal India, HUL and Infosys went up while banking stocks SBI and Axis Bank lost some ground today.
Among sectoral indices, metal zoomed 3.36 per cent. FMCG too rose followed by infra, technology, realty and power.
Broader markets such as the BSE mid-cap and small-cap rose 1.71 per cent and 1.07 per cent, respectively.
The market breadth turned highly positive as 1,683 stocks ended in the green while 979 finished in the red. The total turnover spiked to Rs 4,344.13 crore from Rs 3,053.09 crore yesterday.
