Serum Institute of India to start human clinical trials of Oxford Vaccine Candidate

New Delhi: August 3: Pune’s Serum Institute of India (SII) got Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI)’s approval to conduct clinical trials of Oxford University-Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine in India.

The Expert Committee recommended to start trials after it studied a revised proposal submitted by Pune’s Serum Institute of India.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said, “Drugs Controller General of India has given approval to Serum Institute of India, Pune to conduct Phase II+III clinical trials of Oxford University-Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine (COVISHIELD) in India.”

Pune’s Serum Institute of India had submitted a application seeking approval for conducting the Phase 2,3 human clinical trials of Oxford Vaccine Candidate.
