Several Courts In Odisha Receives Bomb Threat Via Email

Bhubaneswar: January 08:

Following the receipt of bomb threats via email, security measures were heightened at the Cuttack court premises. Police and security agencies promptly evacuated the area and initiated search operations. During these operations, police, supported by bomb disposal units and dog squads, conducted a comprehensive search of the court complex as a precautionary measure. Access to and movement within the premises remained restricted for the duration of the search.
Earlier that day, a similar bomb threat email was received at the Sambalpur court, prompting authorities to issue a high alert. In response, police and anti-bomb squads conducted intensive searches and placed the Sambalpur court premises under heightened security.
As of the time of reporting, police had not detected any explosive materials at either location. Investigators have begun tracing the emails’ origin and are examining potential links among the threats. Authorities stated that all necessary security protocols are being followed and urged the public to remain calm while precautionary measures are in effect.

“An anonymous e-mail containing a threat to damage court premises has been received at several courts. The police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated a thorough investigation. As a precautionary measure, police checking and enhanced security arrangements have been put in place at all concerned locations. The situation is under close monitoring,” the DGP office said in a press note.

“The public is advised not to panic and to cooperate with the police in maintaining security and assisting the investigation,” it read further.
