Puri, June 6: In a protest, demanding timely payment of wages, the Rath Yatra chariot construction workers / Maharana Servitors today went on for a 3 hour cease work stir. But, however, after the Shri Jagannath Temple administration assured them of timely payment of work, the servitors resumed work.

Notably, earlier on 1st of June the Maharana servitors had written to the SJTA authorities to release their overtime wages at the earliest to check the delay in the construction of chariots. And since, no response was seen from the authorities, the servitors had called off the construction work today.

The construction of the chariots gets over in 58 days generally. The servitors generally work overtime and finish the work by time before the Snana Purnima and Netra Utsav.
