Bhubaneswar, Sept 16: During July to September, 2016-17, 37 numbers of Persons with Disabilities have been trained with skills training such as 19 in “Tailor (Basic Sewing Operator)”, and 18 in “Accounts Assistant using Tally” training by the VRCH, which is jointly organised by Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicapped (VRCH) under Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, and Department of Social Security and Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD), Government of Odisha, sponsored by Odisha State Employment Mission, Government of Odisha. Among 37 trained PwDs, 14 were male and 23 were female, which is around 38 % & 62 % respectively. Tool Kits along with Sewing Machines to 19 numbers of trainees from “Tailor (Basic Sewing Operator)” trade were also distributed during the programme, sponsored by the Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) under CSR Initiative, which will encourage them to use to set up their own start-ups. 360 number of persons with disabilities will be trained under this trio initiative (VRCH, SSEPD & OSEMS) for the financial year 2016-17 to impart skill training in 6 trades such as Tailor (Basic Sewing Operator), Accounts Assistant using Tally, Computer Hardware Assistant, Electrician Domestic, Beauty Therapy and Hair Styling Level, Repair & Maintenance of personal electronic devices (Mobile Repairing).
Shri Niten Chandra, IAS Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Social Security and Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD), Government of Odisha, was the Chief Guest. Principal Secretary motivated the trainees with suitable advices that they can avail services laid under different programmes of Government such as forming SHGs of PWDs & linkages with National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), assistance from Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) and also can access credit from formal financial sources with subsidised interest rates under Differential Rate of Interest (DRI). He has also briefed the success stories of Ganjam district that how Mr. Sushant Sethi & Mr. Golaknath Gouda have been mainstreamed for their livelihood. Shri Ram Kishor Sharma, Assistant Director (Rehabilitation), VRC for Handicapped, Bhubaneswar, Government of India, presided over the programme and delivered welcome address, and Shri J. Padmanav Rao, Young Professional, MCC-VRCH, Bhubaneswar proposed the vote of Thanks. Shri Asit Pani, Section Officer and Shri Surendra Kumar Nayak from Department of SSEPD were also present in the Valedictory Programme.
Trained 19 disabled were provided Sewing Machines and 37 PwDs were provided Completion Certificates yesterday in Valedictory programme. Among the trained candidates, a row of happiness, full of self-confidence, line of positivity, self-assurance were seen. The guests also assured to support in future, wherever they feel necessity.
