Smart City Mission to launch GPS-based integrated Mobile App

Bhubaneswar, June 6:  Today the government of Odisha questioned The Bhubaneswar Smart City Mission Authorities for accelerating the process and set mile stones and time lines against each component of the project.

Chief Secretary A.P. Padhi gave a direction to the proposed plan in a high level meeting conducted here on Monday attended by Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Smart City Mission R.Vineel Krishna, while looking through the progress reports at the meeting. Padhi asked the Mission Authority to launch GPS-based utility services integrated mobile app for people and also to develop appropriate waste management system.

The Common Integrated GIS platform project will have online information about basic datas of the city relating to properties, land use, master plan, monuments, parking, educational institutions, health institutions, routes, bus services and others.

The main core segments being discussed in the meeting were projects like automated traffic signalling, railway multi-modal hub phase-I, Bhubaneswar One (common GIS Platform), Shantinagar Awas Yojana and Satyanagar Institutional Core area development.

Decision was taken to uplift the number of automated traffic signals to 64 from the present 24, as said by official reports. Mission leader Krishna informed that the estimated cost of the project is decided to be 10 crores and the tendered document was ready. The phase-I of the project has been estimated at Rs three crore which is about to be completed. The other first tracked project was Railway Multi Modal Hub under phase-I near the railway station. This project includes railway terminal building, bus terminal, underground parking and area development. Estimated cost of the project is around Rs 340 crore, Krishna told reporters after the meeting.

The Satyanagar Institutional Core Redevelopment (ICR) project will be developed   over an area of 40 acres by the Smart City Mission. The joint survey of BMC (Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation) and GA (General Administration) department has been completed for the ICR. As decided by Krishna, the system would be developed within nine months.
