Bhubaneswar, March 22: Students of the faculty of management sciences of SOA University here took out a rally to create awareness about conserving water on World Water Day on Wednesday while pledging to make judicious use of the critical resource.
“I hve taken an oath to conserve water and to make use of it wisely. I pledge not to waste a drop of water as it is the most precious treasure that we possess,” said Ayesha Ray, a student of management.
“Today I have pledged to motivate my family, friends and neighbours to use water judiciously and not waste it,” said another student, Rajat Kumar Mohapatra adding “it is our planet and only we can save it.”
The students carried different placards which read “Let’s join hands to conserve water,” “Let’s adopt rain water harvesting,” and “Let’s not pollute water bodies around us.”
The rally, which began from the Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS), the university’s faculty of management, covered a long route before returning to its campus.
Prof. Anup Samantaray, Dean of IBCS, Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Associate Dean (Students’ Welfare), Dr. Ayaskanta Mohanty, Associate Professor, Dr. B.B.MIshra, Assistant Professor and Ms. Sasmita Patnaik, Lecturer, participated in the march.
The program was supported by several organizations working for clean water and water conservation including Walk for Water, Rivers of the World, The Climate Reality Project and The ‘Analytics’ Odisha.
