Bhubaneswar, Sept 27: The SOA University will soon impart self-defense training for its girl students to inculcate skill and confidence in them to face difficult situations, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amit Banerjee said on Monday.
Prof. Banerjee was speaking after felicitating young Chinmayee Bhuyan who chased three criminals on a two-wheeler after being robbed of her gold chain and cell phone on the Bhubaneswar streets on Sunday night before overpowering the three single-handedly forcing them to flee leaving their bike behind.
Complimenting Bhuyan, who is a karate expert, for her bravery, the Vice-Chancellor said her expertise would be utilized to train the students and make them believe in their abilities.
Recounting her experience, Bhuyan said after the three bike-borne criminals had snatched her belonging she decided to give them the chase and was confident of overpowering the hoodlums. “The mind training given to us helped me,” she said.
