Bhubaneswar, July 22: By taking a major step, the State government on Thursday set up a Special Commission for better management of Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri.
The special commission would be directed by the Justice Bimal Prasad Das, Former High Court Judge and it would be assisted by Mahimohan Tripathy, Former chief administrator of the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
While talking to the media persons, Arun Sahoo, Law Minister said that, suggestions by the Commission would be given on disciplined rituals, Security arrangements and discipline at the time of darshan for devotees, training and education to servitors, conservation of heritage and propagation of Jagannath culture.
Notably, The Pahandi of Sudarsana during the Niladri Bije of the deities from the chariots to the Ratna Sinhasana had to be stopped forcibly after Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal, who was also present at the spot, had a quarrel with some servitors who allowed some of the devotees, said to be relatives of these servitors, to climb up the chariots. Also some media persons, who had gone there to find out the reason of delay of the ritual, were also manhandled by the servitors.
