Bhubaneswar, July 26: Special cash incentive of Rs 60 lakh for six qualified sportswomen, sprinters Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda, Hockey Players Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz and Sunita Lakra, for the Rio Olympics 2016, has been announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday. Each of them will get Rs 10 lakh cash price.
For this purpose Chief Minister has directed the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) to pay the incentive amount which would help them to prepare for the Rio Olympics starting from Aug 5. The six sportswomen would bring glory for the state as well as for the country also, Patnaik said.
Notably, Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda have been qualified to participate in the 100 meter and 200 meter run respectively and also for the 4X100 meter relay race. Along with these two players, Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz and Sunita Lakra have been selected in the Indian Women’s hockey team for the Rio Olympics, starting from August 8.
