Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: Prafulla Mallick, Steel and Mines Minister informed that the State Government on Monday filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the Orissa High Court (HC) order regarding lifting of piled up iron ore stock by Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) from Sarada Mines.

In July, the HC had ordered the Odisha government for allowing the company to transport the iron ore fines and lumps within four weeks, that were legally purchased and lying in the leased area of Sarada Mines, to JSPL’s palletisation plant at Barbil and railway siding.

Rs 1,869 crore towards royalty and taxes had been paid in between 2004 and 2014 to the State government by JSPL who had bought the materials in between those years.

By directing stoppage of ore transportation in its April 8 order, the court had also quashed the letter from Joda, the deputy director of mines that was issued on March 31, 2014.
