Bhubaneswar: Sept 1: A special session of the State Assembly of Odisha will be held on September 1 to ratify the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would move a resolution for discussion on the Bill and all members will have their opinion on the Bill. After the resolution is passed in the house, government will inform the Parliament and centre.
As the Bill was passed with the support of BJD and the Congress, its ratification in the State Assembly will be a mere formality.
The decision to hold a one-day session of the legislature was taken by the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The Cabinet also decided to defer the monsoon session of the Assembly from September 7 to September 21.
