Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with former captain of the Indian cricket team and renowned all-rounder Kapil Dev, along with Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) CEO Amandeep Singh Johal, in New Delhi to discuss various issues pertaining to Indian sports and games.
During this meeting, the participants engaged in discussions about sports-based education, physical fitness, and the enhancement of India’s sporting tradition. They also positively addressed the inclusion of sports in the new National Education Policy 2020 as part of the school curriculum.

While discussing, Pradhan emphasised that sports are not merely entertainment or pastimes; they are an essential component of education and life. Through participation in sports, children can cultivate qualities such as discipline and leadership.
Additionally, they discussed how the National Education Policy fosters holistic development through sports-integrated education.
The education minister stated that this policy emphasised creating a supportive environment for the comprehensive development of students.
