Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: Regarding the rift among the Odisha Congress, president of the student’s wing of the party, Itish Pradhan suspended spokesperson of State Chhatra Congress, Ajay Panda from the party for having a hand in anti-party affairs. This happened yesterday.
Notably, on Thursday the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee’s disciplinary committee issued show cause notice to OPCC Secretary, Biswajit Das along with some other leaders of the State unit of National Students’ Union of India for shouting slogans after barging into a hotel room on Wednesday where Odisha in-charge BK Hariprasad was having a meeting. Das and the NSUI leaders had alleged that Hariprasad had disrespected Lulu Mohapatra by not attending his funeral.
Earlier that day, several student leaders shouted slogans against Hariprasad and also put the effigy of the party Odisha in-charge to flames ahead of the Utkal Varsity’s main gate here. Akash Kumar, a Chhatra Congress leader present at the scene, said Hariprasad will not be allowed to enter Bhubaneswar if the show cause notices were not withdrawn.
