Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Museum is a museum of the culture, heritage, tradition and history of the Odia nation and another identity of the State’s heritage, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has said.

He said, inaugurating nine new galleries in the complex, that the various artefacts found in these new galleries are very attractive and rare.

“The Odisha State Museum is a strong preserved asset of our Odisha history and geography,” Majhi said.

“My government is committed to its overall development and advancement,” the Chief Minister said.

            These nine galleries inaugurated in the museum provide detailed information about the history, geography, mineral resources, art, culture, architecture, heritage and diversity of Odisha.

While the Mineral and Geological Gallery provides information about the mineral resources of Odisha, the Zoology Gallery beautifully displays the forest resources of Odisha, lakes, animals, birds, etc.

Tourists visiting the museum can also scan the QR Code placed in the Zoology Gallery to get various information.

Similarly, the Kandhai Gallery displays wood ‘Kandhai’, ‘Sakhi Kandhai’, ‘Suta Kandhai’, ‘Sahayar Kandhai’, etc., while the Tribal Gallery provides information about the lifestyle, festivals and rich history of the tribal community.

The Handloom Gallery showcases the handloom and textile crafts of Odisha in a very beautiful and flawless manner.

“Our culture comes alive in the Ramayana exhibition hall through paintings, while various artefacts are displayed in the underground artefact exhibition,” Majhi said.
