State occupies significant place in Nation’s march towards development: CM

Cuttack, Jan 28 : State has become an integral part of the Nation’s march towards development. The growth rate of Odisha is higher than National average and there has been enough improvement in human development indicators, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in his address at Republic Day celebrations held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday.

 State has witnessed massive change in development of various sectors right from education to industries and infrastructure. In field of women’s empowerment, Odisha is also ahead of all other states in the country, he said.

 Speaking on the occasion while highlighting the policy initiatives of his government, he said that the State has consolidated its position in attracting investments and in case of Ease of Doing Business the state is ahead of many states.

 “The development of entrepreneurship among young generation, skilled Odia and a developed Odisha characterize the goals of the government. We are going to launch a new start up policy soon for encouraging the youths in entrepreneurship sector. This will usher in employment opportunities by utilisation of our potentiality to the fullest extent”, Patnaik said.

 On farmers’ issue, he said that 2015 was the year of hardship for the farmers. The Rabi crops will be better in the coming days, he expected. By winning Krushi Karman award this year the state has received this national level honour for the fourth time in a row, he said while expressing gratitude to the farmers for this recognition. He said that the government is committed to progress of farmers and agriculture in the state.

 Odisha has become an ideal state in the country in the field of social security and welfare of physically challenged. “We are committed towards development of backward regions. The efforts will be expedited in the coming days to safeguard the rights of tribal and dalits and integrating them in the growth mainstream”, he said.

 The Food security has always been the first priority of the government and we are sincerely working for execution of the National food Security Act (NFSA) across the state to ensure not a single eligible beneficiary is left out to get the subsidised ration under the programme, Patnaik said.

 “We are going to celebrate 80th year of formation of Odisha as the special state for which awareness will be created about our language, culture and pride by organising rallies in villages and urban cities”, he said.

 In view of completion of 100 years of formation of Odisha in 2036, a vision document-Odisha at 100 will be prepared to work towards development of the state, he said. The government is also committed for empowering the youth.

 “We are going to celebrate the birth centenary of Biju Patnaik this year. The government will take steps to ensure it to be observed across the nation”, he said.

 Development, social justice, equality, welfare and citizens’ rights, which constitute the foundation of our Constitution, determines preparation of all welfare programmes undertaken by the government, said Patnaik.
