State signs MoU with Worldfish to double fish production in 5 years

Bhubaneswar: June 29: In an aim to bring improvement in state’s fish production, the State Government has been signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with aquaculture and genetic improvement organisation, Worldfish, a Malaysia based company.

The MOU has been signed between Worldfish’s representative and official of state government in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

This collaboration will help to double fish production in five years. The state government would invest Rs.22 crore in this project to increase fish production.

According to the agreement signed, necessary skills and technology regarding the increase in fish production in the state would be provided by Worldfish for five years starting form 2016.

Notably, Worldfish till now has provided its services to various countries like Bangladesh, Philippines, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
