Subhadra Shakti Mela 2025 nears grand finale, concludes today

BHUBANESWAR: The Subhadra Shakti Mela 2025 was in full swing on Saturday at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, drawing massive crowds.
The vibrant marketplace, a showcase of Odisha’s entrepreneurial spirit, continues to mesmerize visitors with an impressive array of products from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), featuring everything from intricate handicrafts and organic produce to locally sourced spices and exquisite handloom collections.
One of the most beloved zones, the food court, has become a hotspot for food enthusiasts, offering a rich variety of millet-based dishes and traditional Odia delicacies. As visitors savour the flavours of the region, they are also treated to the sights and sounds of Odisha’s deep-rooted cultural heritage.
The eighth day of the Mela witnessed a special handloom showcase, which highlighted Odisha’s illustrious textile legacy. The stalls were adorned with the finest examples of Sambalpuri, Ikkat, Pata Saree, and Tasar Silk, dazzling shoppers with their intricate weaves and artistry. This vibrant display reaffirmed the state’s unwavering commitment to preserving its traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern trends.
In a moment of added pride, Golak Mohapatra, Vice President of BJP, Odisha, visited the Mela, engaging with SHG entrepreneurs and lauding their contributions to promoting Odisha’s rich textile and craft traditions. His presence added a significant boost to the event’s prestige.
As the evening descended, the cultural stage came alive with the mesmerizing Ranapa Dance, a traditional folk performance showcasing acrobatic feats on stilts. The thrilling spectacle captivated the audience, leaving them spellbound. The energy continued into the night with a soul-stirring melody performance by Satyajit Pradhan, Bhagyashree, and their team, who captivated the crowd with their powerful vocals and vibrant musical renditions.
With just one day remaining, the Subhadra Shakti Mela has already surpassed expectations. Cumulative sales have crossed an impressive Rs 3 crore, and the footfall has exceeded 2.5 lakh visitors, making this edition one of the most successful in history. As the event enters its final day, organisers extend a heartfelt invitation to all to join in celebrating the incredible achievements of Odisha’s women entrepreneurs.
