An investigation into the suicide of Sweta Utkal Kumari, a software engineer from Bhubaneswar, has focused on a love and blackmail angle in the days since her death.
According to the most recent reports, the deceased, a native of Bhadrak who worked for a well-known IT firm in Bhubaneswar, was hopelessly in love with a management college student.
Her lover allegedly blackmailed her into taking drastic action. Soon, he could be questioned by the police.
A diary and a mobile phone were found in the flat and recovered by the police. Diary entries have revealed her boyfriend’s identity, sources said.
Her loved ones tried calling her mobile phone late Friday night but were unable, so they contacted the Chandrasekharpur police.
A team from the police station later broke into the apartment, entered the room, and discovered Sweta’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. The victim’s family has demanded thorough prove.
