Sum hospital fire outbreak; ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh announced by Chief Minister

Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh has been announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today to the families of deceased in the fire mishap at Sum Hospital on October 17.

After reviewing the situation on Tuesday, he had also ordered Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) level probe in this incident. He had also informed that all the medical expenses for the treatment of the injured will be taken care of by the State Government.

Besides, Rs 5 lakh compensation to each bereaved family had been announced by Amit Banerjee, Vice Chanceller of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhann University on Tuesday.

It may be noted that, with the death of one person identified as Janaki Hui today while undergoing treatment at Bhubaneswar AIIMS, the death toll in the Sum hospital fire mishap has mounted to 21.
