Sum Hospital Mishap: Death toll increased to 24 as three more died today

Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: An Increase in the death toll due to the Sum Hospital fire break out can be seen with three more person succumbing to death on Friday in the Capital Hospital here and SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack while undergoing treatment. With this the number of deceased has increased to 24.

As per the information, Sheikh Qurban from Khurdha died at the SCB hospital while Biswanath Behera from Bhubaneswar and Rashmita Swain of Puri died at the Capital hospital.

Behera had been shifted to AIIMS after the fire mishap at Sum hospital, on October 19, AIIMS hospital authority discharged him. Later, for being in a critical condition, his family members brought him to the Capital Hospital where he was declared dead.

Swain, admitted in Sum hospital on October 17, was shifted to Capital Hospital but after the primary treatment she was discharged. But later as her condition deteriorated she had been admitted again to Capital Hospital. However she died on Thursday night in the hospital.

It may be noted that, in the major fire breakout at Sum Hospital on October 17, 21 patients were initially declared dead.
