Bhubaneswar, May 19: Among the 75 A1 category most busy stations in India, Bhubaneswar railway station has been ranked the 13th cleanest station. Visakhapatnam railway station is the cleanest having rank one, followed by Secunderabad at rank two. The survey report was released by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday. At the third position comes the Jammu railway. The New Delhi station has been ranked at 39. The Darbhanga railway station in Bihar is ranked the dirtiest. The survey was done by the Quality Council of India and the parameters were clean toilets on platforms, clean tracks and dustbins at stations. This is the third survey conducted by the railways to keep a check on the railway stations as part of its ‘Swachh Rail’ campaign. The railway station in Varanasi which is the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been ranked at the 14th position. The survey was done on all 407 stations of which 75 stations come in A1 category or the most busy ones and the rest 332 come in the A category. In the A category, the Beas railway station is the cleanest, followed by Khammam and Ahmednagar station ranked at 3rd position. In all, the railways has about 8,000 stations that are categorized into seven categories, A1, A, B, C, D, E and F based on their annual passenger revenue. The stations which contribute more than Rs 50 crore a year in passenger revenue are considered to be A-1 stations. The A category stations contribute between Rs 6 crore and Rs 50 crore as annual passenger revenue. The railways are to carry out another survey of 200 stations on the criteria of cleanliness.
