Salipur, May 16: The suspected Al Qaeda terrorist Abdul Rehman has been sent back to Tihar jail in New Delhi after he was made to appear before the Salipur Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court on Monday. His deposition before the Patiala Court is scheduled to take place on May 23. On May 29, he would again be produced at the court here having all the case papers. Rehman’s counsel Arunodaya Mohanty informed this to media.

Earlier in the day yesterday, the Salipur Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court gave instructions to the CB STF to lodge the suspected Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) operative Abdul Rehman at Choudwar Jail in Cuttack upto May 17. This order came in observance of the petition filed by Rehman’s lawyer. Rehman was made to appear in the court with high security level after being brought from the Tihar Jail in New Delhi. He was produced before the court on the basis of an appeal made by the STF. Later, Rehman’s counsel sought court permission to lodge him in jail in the State. But the court later directed the STF to shift him back to Tihar Jail as he is likely to be produced in the Patiala Court on May 29.

Abdur Rehman was held in a joint raid conducted by the special cell of Delhi police and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police on Dec 15, 2015.  Rehman has been charged for illegally running a Madrasa on the the outskirts of Cuttack and there training youths for terror activities.
