Sambalpur: June 21: On Monday Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Juel Oram launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at Sambalpur in Odisha in presence of Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. Addressing in the launching ceremony, Pradhan said, it has been targeted to provide 30 lakh LPG connections to women under BPL category of the state within three years and 10 lakh people in the non-BPL category will also be provided LPG.
‘Fourty percent of the households in the state have LPG connections against the national average of 60 percent. At present, 32 lakh active consumers are in the state and in last two years, 13 lakh consumers have been provided with LPG connection’, informed Oil Minister. New LPG connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana would be distributed to beneficiaries by organising Melas, sources said.
Three LPG bottling plants will be set up at Khurda, Bolangir and Jeypore besides increasing the capacity of existing bottling plants at Balasore and Jharsuguda, said by Minister Pradhan
