Bhubaneswar, April 10 : Tension prevailed in Jaleswar on Friday after bloody clashes over offering namaz in Rajpur Mosque in which over 30 persons sustained injuries, official reports reaching here today said.
District Administration arrested 10 persons for their involvement in the clash and clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPc to control the situation, official reports here said.
The reports said four platoons of force has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
According to reports, the clashes were results of a dispute over conduct of namaj in the Taitul mosque by Mullah Hafiz raging for some time now.
While one group was against Hafiz conducting the Friday prayers, the rival group was adamant on his conducting the event.
The two groups initially indulged in heated argument and turned ugly later, the reports added. Rival groups indulged in stone pelting and attacked each other with sticks in which some people sustained injuries, Official sources said.
Both the groups have lodged as many as 10 complaints, Police sources said. L
