BHUBANESWAR: Feb 07: 38th Foundation Day Drama Festival-2017 of MANANA NATYA SANSTHA kicked off on Monday at Rabindra Mandap. The inaugural play was “Thunta Gachha Ra Chhau” by the host institution. The protagonist of the play is the eldest brother . It deals with the tribulations he shoulders in his old days. For the first time the audience missed Manoj Pattanayak, the President of Manama Natya Sanstha and a good actor, on stage in both the acting and direction. However, the debutant theatre director Ayaskanta Swain did a good job. The artists were also did full justice to their characters. On this occasion, this year’s Ratiranjan Samman, Chandrasekhar Nanda Samman and Gopal Chandra Pattanayak Samman were given away to Shankar Prasad Tripathy, Dr. Sandeep Mahapatra and Dr. Gauranga Rout respectively. NSD Chairman Ratan Thiyam, actor Bijay Mohanty and culture secretary Manoranjan Panigrahi attended the fest as guests.
