Sambalpur, Aug 8: Yesterday, the Dhanupali police arrested the three named as Ajay Singh aka Badamundia, Krushna Chandra Majhi aka Raja and Nilakantha Nanda aka Daktar accused for brutally stabbing the Superintendent of Sambalpur Jail. IIC of Dhanupali Police Station, Prakash James Toppo informed the media that the three accused who have a criminal antecedents, had planned to kill the Sambalpur Jail Superintendent, Brahmananda Sahu on instructions of Sonu Ghosh and Sujit Karna, the two murder accused, who are presently behind bars in Sambalpur Jail. He said the plan to kill Sahu was planned while Ajay Singh was in the jail.
The three accused after their arrest were brought to the court which remanded them to judicial custody after rejecting their bail petitions. The police have seized a knife used in the attack, a Bajaj Pulsar bike and a Honda Activa scooter from their possession.
According to the reports, Sahu was heading back home after conducting a surprise inspection in the jail when the two miscreants came from behind and snatched his phone in a dark place. When Sahu refused to give them money, one stabbed him from behind and later both of them fled from the spot.
Sahu was first admitted in the Sadar Hospital by police who had rushed to the spot where the incident took place, and was later shifted to the VSS Medical College and Hospital in Burla after his condition worsened. The condition of the Jail Superintendent is stated to be critical.
