Bhubaneswar, Dec 07: Three more Doppler radars would be set up in Odisha very soon, said Revenue and Disaster Management minister Bijayshree Routray in the State Assembly

He also said the Centre has decided to set up four Doppler radars in the state to provide early warning on low pressure and cyclone to the people.

“While one Doppler radar has been made operational at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district in the first phase, another would be set up at Gopalpur in Ganjam district in the second phase and the other two radars would be set up at Sambalpur and Balasore districts in the third and fourth phase respectively,” Routray said.

The minister said while the process is underway for operationalisation of a Doppler radar at Gopalpur at the earliest, construction of two buildings for installation of two Doppler radars at Sambalpur and Balasore has been completed.

The state government has requested the Centre to provide the three Doppler radars and ancillary equipment for their installation at these three places as early as possible, he informed.
