Tribals of Nuapada District warn Maoists for barbaric killings:

Nuapada: April 24: A tribal body of Nuapada district staged road blockade on Saturday and warned retaliation against left wing ultras if they will not stop barbaric killings. The tribals are fed up with maoists for killings of innocent tribals and they became more frustrated after the recent murder of a tribal college student by the Maoists. President of Nuapada Zilla Adivasi Sangh, Bhanu Pratap Singh Majhi said, the tribal body of the district strongly condemns the brutal murder of Gajapati Majhi, a Plus Three second-year tribal student. Sangh has demanded a compensation of 20 lakhs for the family of Gajapati Majhi from state government and two CRPF camps inside the forest area in Nuapada district. Former Zilla Parishad president and advisor of Nuapada Zilla Adivasi Sangh, Jemanani Dharua also urged the Police to give adequate protection to tribals and requested the state government to deploy CRPF immediately. Balakrushna Sabar, secretary, Nuapada Zilla Adivasi Sangh, said the Sangh has urged the Maoists to refrain from mindless killing of innocent tribals and work together with them for their development.

Praising Gajapati Majhi, Prasanna Kumar Padhi, Nuapada District BJD president said, ‘Gajapati Majhi has done nothing wrong in informing Police about the maoist activities. As responsible citizen, one has the duty to inform the Police about any illegal activities.. He also said, ‘We have requested the chief minister to kindly consider the case and provide adequate compensation to the family of Gajapati and rehabilitate one of his family members by providing a government job,” Padhi said.

Nuapada SP Pinaka Mishra has welcomed the protest demonstration of the tribals against the Maoists in the district against the brutal murder of Gajapati Majhi and appealed to the people of Nuapada district to jointly protest such heinous crimes of Maoists. Also, he assures to the tribals residing in forest areas that, Police will do its best to provide them adequate protection.
