Sundergarh, Nov 7: Trucker in western Odisha’s Sudergarh district halted transport for a day protesting against the State government’s decision on ceiling on freight rate for transportation of minerals.
The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in as many as eight places of the district including three in Sundergarh town as a precautionary measures and deployed 11 platoons of policemen to maintain law and order.
The truckers’ body president has also been taken into custody by the police.
The truckers demand that the government should reconsider the rates.
