Athagarh, Sept 1: On Thursday morning, a woman died on the spot as an elephant squashed her to death at Saniamuhan village under Khuntuni forest range.
As per sources, when the woman was coming out of her house, the tusker dragged her outside her house and squashed her to death. The irate locals staged a road blockade on Nation Highway-55 near Oranda. They demanded compensation to the kin of the deceased. Also, the locals burnt tyres near Paikerapur and blocked the Cuttack-Sambalpur road which affected the vehicular traffic.
