Two killed in road accident: Locals torch buses

Screen Shot 2017 06 05 at 6.32.41 PMPipili, June 5: In a tragic incident, three intercity buses from Puri to Bhubaneswar were torched by the locals near Hota square in Pipili early today, after a couple travelling on a two-wheeler were crushed to death on the spot by a bus travelling towards Bhubaneswar.

Identified as Hadu Khan and his wife, the deceased a resident of Asarala village in Jajpur were on their way home when the speeding bus “Sarala”, trying to overtake the couple hit them on them back, thus brutally crushing them underneath.

Following the incident, the irate locals torched the buses and also damaged various parked vehicles on the NH. The police after reaching the spot after being informed were also beaten up. The locals also blocked the old NH 203 protesting against the same.

In the meanwhile, the vehicular movement on the road had been halted due to the protest.

However, by now, adequate police personnels have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
