Two years back minor death case: OHRC held accused doc for duty negligence in Kendrapada

Bhubaneswar, May 12: In connection to a death of a girl due to negligence on the part of the doctor in Kendrapada two years back, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has directed the state government to provide compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased eight-year-old. The compensation would be paid by the responsible doctor, Dr Bhaskar Chandra Kar, who is the medical officer of the Pattamundai community health centre (CHC). His delay in treatment led to the death of the minor girl.

Two years back, Sujata Nayak (8), the daughter of Basudev Nayak of Baipada village under Pattamundai police limits had been admitted to the CHC as she fell sick on Apr 10, 2015. The family members of Sujata allegedly that their daughter died due to delay in treatment by Dr Kar. Acting upon this, a petition was filed with the OHRC and a complaint was also filed at the Pattamundai police station.
