Baripada, May 9: Today, the police here detained two of the six allegedly accused in the gang rape case of the girl in Udala in Mayurbhanj. Acting upon the victim’s complaint, the Superintendent of police (SP) R Prakash along with a forensic team rushed to Udala for an on spot investigation. Among the two detained, one is the prime accused named Purna Chandra Rout and another is Chandan Behera. They have been taken for interrogation.
On May 3, Purna had convinced the girl to take her to Udala by promising marriage to her and on reaching Udala, he locked her in an abandoned house. Later, he and his two friends Chandana and Tuna allegedly raped her. Three more joined them later. The girl somehow escaped and lodged a complaint at the PS on Sunday.
