Umerkote, Dec 10: In a major road mishap a boy was killed yesterday, after coming under a truck tyre at DNK in Umerkote in Odisha. On the other hand locals have staged a roadblock and demanded compensation for the deceased’s family.
In a road accident Gopi Kalar (18) of Gulipatna area Under Umerkote was killed when his head came under a truck tyre at DNK in Umerkote. As per reports, a truck carrying maize was on it way when Gopi was trying to overtake it from it’s left. But unfortunately, a street cart was obstructing his way, for which he was unable to control and came under the truck, following to the truck rolling over it and crushing his head.
With this the irate locals staged road blocks and with keeping Gopi’s body at the spot they demanded compensation to the deceased’s family and along with non-allowing of trucks during the working hours in the area. After the district Authorities and police reached the spot and promised to hold a discussion on 10th December regarding the matter, the locals discontinued the protest.
While a compensation of Rs 3000 was given to the deceased’s family from the Harishchandra Yojana, an amount of Rs 10,000 was also given from the Red Cross team.
