Balasore: June 2: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed Vikash Utsav rally at Balasore on Thursday. He started his speech by saying he is in the land of Lord Jagannath, the God of the poor. In his third visit to Odisha he highlighted the welfare schemes initiated by his government on the completion of two years at centre. He attacked the BJD Government for its failure to develop the state and also questioned why the state remains poor?
And also said that BJP is dedicated for development and its second name is Development, and it is the poor for whom the Government is made, not for rich people, he added. Addressing a massive gathering at Balasore, Modi stated that his government emphasizes on the development of Eastern Indian Sate including Odisha. By comparing he commented Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Haryana is more Developed than Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and Assam.
Although there are optimum resources in Odisha like coal, iron ore and sea, still no significant development has been seen thus wondering the reason behind poverty not leaving Odisha. Commenting on previous government, Modi said that the previous central governments have been giving slogans to eradicate poverty. “Their intentions may have been honest. But experience has shown that their path was wrong. It did not come down, rather poverty and unemployment have kept growing.”
The Prime Minister said his government has already electrified more than 18,000 villages in India. These villages were without power even 70 years after independence. This is the beginning of empowerment of the poor, he added.Speaking about his government initiatives to protect girl child, he said the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ abhiyan is functioning across the country to save the girl child and provide them education. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has been implemented for the education of girls, he added.
Notably, PM Modi had earlier addressed a farmers rally at Bargarh on February 21 and inaugurated IOCL’s oil refinery project on February 7 at Paradip.
