Twenty Seven artistes died in a tragic accident in Deogarh district, Odisha

Deogarh: April 18: Bus carrying 38 artistes of Bharati Gananatya fell into a 300 ft at Gailo Ghat in Deogarh District on Sunday evening. In this tragic incident, at least 27 people were killed and 11 were injured. “Twenty seven bodies were recovered from the accident site, Deogarh SP Sara Sharma said. “The mishap occurred around 6.30 pm. Rescue work is on and the injured are being admitted to the Deogarh district hospital,” she said. Bus carrying 38 persons of the Opera Party including 8 women and a child was going towards Sohela in Bargarh district. Odisha DGP KB Singh said a team of ODRAF personnel has been rushed to the spot to help in the rescue work. ‘Eight teams of fire personnel have been deployed to undertake rescue operations and Sambalpur Deputy Fire Officer is supervising the work’, said by Fire Service DG Binay Behera.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief over the bus accident and directed officials to speed up the rescue operations.
